I know absolutely nothing about html. If anyone knows how to get rid of that hideous grey frame around my logo and drawings to the right, please let me know..

Oh, and I got my lovely Johanna Basford print today! For those of you who haven’t heard of her; Shame on you! Johanna Basford creates beautiful inky drawings in sort of the same genre as me, but she is just amazingly good at what she does. The print I bought is called TwitterPicture 2 and was a live project where she was sitting and drawing for 24 hours while her twitter followers used tweets to tell her live what to draw. Then she screen printed 100 copies and sold number 1/100 to me! I framed it tonight and will take a picture tomorrow to show you just how amazing the print is :)

Launch

02Feb10

The new official launch date for my website is February 7th, that means this Sunday. It’s going to be gorgeous with lots of new work so please come and visit me then :)

Templates

02Feb10

Okay, so, hmmm. Got really tired of the recent theme I used on the blog, thought it would be nice to change the theme in according to my new website. That said, I couldn’t find a template matching my new website so I just went for a clean lined template worshipping simplicity. Don’t know if I’ll settle with this one though, pink urls are a bit too much, but it’s okay for now. My wrist is still killing me so I won’t finish the website today either. It sucks, I am so excited about it and I can’t wait to show it to you!

Ouch!

02Feb10

My new website is slightly delayed due to me being sort of handicapped at the moment, struggling with pains in my wrist. If it holds during the day I may be able to launch the site tonight, but if not it may be delayed for another couple of days.

iPhone

24Jan10

I finally decided to get my own iPhone 3GS and I am absolutely loving it! I have had other smartphones in the past, the last one was a Nokia N95, but I never really got to grips with it and I never really liked it. The iPhone on the other hand has proved to be incredibly easy to use, everything is very logical and makes sense. The different apps are definitely making my life a lot easier and I love that I can play around with my blog, twitter and Facebook no matter where I go. Loving it!!

Dropbox!

20Jan10

I don’t usually do this kind of advertising, but this is actually quite a good deal for people like us who need to make sure our valuable digital files are protected and safe at any time.

Dropbox is the easiest way to store, sync, and, share files online. There’s no complicated interface to learn. Dropbox works seamlessly with your operating system and automatically makes sure your files are up-to-date. Available for Windows, Mac, and Linux. You can choose if you want a free account or a premium account, you get 2 GB of free space when you choose the free account. And if you join Dropbox by using THIS LINK, we both get 250 MB extra free space!

Huge indeed!

17Jan10

Oh, do I have interesting news for you! Sadly I cannot say anything about it yet, but it is exciting and it is HUGE!

This is the pile I’m working on at the moment

Okay, obviously my “look at me, I’m in Spain!”-updates never happened. The reason, you ask? Well, it was a combination of a crappy Spanish mobile broadband connection and sheer old laziness. Instead of sitting inside uploading pictures of a pale bikinied myself, I spent hours and hours in a hammock, swinging back and forth while enjoying cold refreshments from the outside fridge on the deck. I also, believe it or not, managed to draw a little in my new and gorgeous Moleskine sketchbook that the sweetest of the sweetest, also known as my best friend Kristine Blesvik (awesome designer btw, be sure to check her out!),  gave me for christmas.

Working like crazy on my website now, it’s going to be full of new work, more professional, much  simpler design than the previous site, I’m a huge fan of simplicity and letting the imagery you’re presenting be the center of attention, no music or fancy effects of any kind, just a white space surrounding the art. It will be finished in not too long, at least before January ends! …I hope..

It’s December already and maybe time for a little update. I got my Macbook Pro fixed, had to replace the LED display which usually costs a fortune but thankfully Apple decided to cover the costs for some unknown reason. Neither the less, I am extremely thankful for their generousity!

I am illustrating a piece of text for the Norwegian publishers Cappelen Damm which is really exciting, can’t say much more than that but when the work is finished I will upload the illustrations on my then newly designed website! So, I’ll be in Norway for another two weeks before leaving for Spain, going to celebrate both Christmas and New Years here:

I’ll bring my computer and buy a camera before leaving, so I will show you some Spanish holiday spirit during the two weeks. (I think I have decided on a Canon Powershot S90.)

Until then, take care!

My name is Nina Arctander, I'm an illustrator and this is my blog and news feed. I try to keep the content highly illustration focused, but it will of course be slightly coloured by my everyday life. After all, what's the point of writing a blog if you refuse to add anything personal to it?
